![]() | Kookaburra HillChildren are particularly welcome at Kookaburra Hill. The rates have been designed to accommodate families with children. Only a single booking is taken at any time so if children make noise, as they will, there are no other guests at close range to disturb. For babies and toddlers a portable cot, high chair and baby bath are available for use. An in-ground salt-water pool has been positioned so that parents can watch their children in the pool from their living room and outdoor dining area. Safety fencing separates the pool and the accommodation. There are also animals to delight children. Two Welsh Mountain ponies, Bluey and Kevarose are young and have loving natures. Your host will lead one of the ponies out of their paddock for you to meet or for children to pat if a parent is present. Sorry, it is not possible to offer rides. There are also ducks and chooks and sometimes, chicks and ducklings. The chook house has been designed for little children to easily open doors and collect eggs or watch hens sitting on eggs. Older children will enjoy the space and freedom of the 2-acre front garden in which they are free to kick a ball and enjoy themselves. There is a pool that they can enjoy and they can also take a 2-acre bush walk within the property. Older children could also pitch a small tent (not supplied) in a lovely clearing in this bush, and have many hours of enjoyment but still be close to parents. They may also enjoy the safari canoe trips, mountain bike riding, horse riding or some of the wonderful walks in the valley.Kookaburra Hill is dog-friendly also so families can bring their dog with them and be happy that their dog has 2 acres to run which is securely fenced. ![]() | Pioneer Museum ParkOriginal buildings, machinery, photos and artefacts used by the district's pioneers. The Pioneer Park has two bush walks a short 1/2 to 1 hour walk and a longer walk along the river bank up to Mossy Garden. They are both interesting walks and cater for all ages and abilities within the two walks. We have a quiz which the children can do as they tour the museum and on completion are given a sepia print of Hampden Bridge with a certificate on the back which has the child's name and date of the visit. We also have a barrel which they can run on as it rolls, quoits using horse shoes, and the swing bridge is another terrific thing for the children. We have found the interactive sound system good for children of all ages too! There is a geology section what rocks are to be found in the Valley.http://www.kangaroovalleymuseum.com |
